The Exotac polySTRIKER Ultra-Light Ferrocerium Rod Firestarter is a waterproof fire-starting tool that works by using a combination of a ferrocerium rod and an ultra sharp tungsten carbide striker. This tool is the perfect companion for outdoor survival. Fills the minimalist niche without sacrificing design or usability. This long lasting tool provides up to 1,000 strikes. Features the same innovative tungsten carbide striker design as the nanoSTRIKER. The tungsten carbide insert is built into an easy-to-use striking tool that snaps into the handle. A lanyard connects the striking handle and the tool, to ensure both parts are there when you need it. Snap the striking tool securely into the handle when not in use. Simply push the tool out from the cut-out in the back of the handle and you are ready to strike. The polySTRIKER burns at nearly 5,500 degrees Fahrenheit (3,000 degrees Celsius). The ferrocerium rod measures 3/16″ and works even when it’s wet. Features a durable, ultra lightweight polymer design. The polySTRIKER weighs 0.5 ounces and measures 4 inches long. Made from recyclable ABS plastic. The polySTRIKER includes: an ultra sharp tungsten carbide striking tool, one ferrocerium rod, a lanyard and instructions. The rod has a protective coating from the factory, which can be removed with a few scrapes of the striking tool – now you are ready to strike for sparks. Remove the striking tool by pushing through the back of the handle. Place the striking tool onto the rod at a 45 degree angle, so the sharp edge will scrape the rod. Quickly scrape the striking tool down the rod, carving material from the rod. When striking, use moderate pressure and high speed when scraping the rod.
